A sudden change in your vision or an eye injury needs prompt attention. Call (818) 240-3937 to check immediate office availability and discuss your next step.
Do not use the appointment form for urgent symptoms.
For sudden vision loss, severe pain, serious injury, or chemical exposure, seek emergency care immediately. Do not wait for a callback.
Appointment requests are for nonurgent visits and follow-up only.
Eye symptoms that should not wait
Even if your eye looks normal, a sudden symptom can signal a serious problem. Get prompt assessment for any of the following.
Sudden vision loss or a shadow
Loss of vision, sudden blurring, or a dark curtain across your sight needs immediate evaluation.
Severe eye pain
Intense pain, especially with redness, nausea, or a change in vision, needs urgent medical attention.
Injury or chemical exposure
A forceful impact, an object lodged in your eye, or a chemical splash requires immediate action.
New flashes or floaters
New light flashes or a sudden increase in floating spots need same-day assessment, especially with a shadow or reduced vision.
Your safety comes first
When to go directly to emergency care
Go to an emergency department for sudden vision loss, severe eye pain, a penetrating injury, or significant chemical exposure. If you cannot get prompt assessment for new flashes and floaters, seek emergency care rather than waiting.
Call 911 if a vision change occurs with facial drooping, weakness, or difficulty speaking, or if you need emergency transport. Do not drive yourself when your vision is affected.
For a chemical splash
Immediately rinse your eye with plenty of clean, lukewarm running water for at least 20 minutes. Remove contact lenses if easily possible, but do not delay rinsing. Seek emergency care immediately.
For an object lodged in your eye
Do not remove it, rub your eye, or apply pressure. Seek emergency care immediately.
Do not wait for an appointment confirmation or a return call when symptoms are severe or time-critical.
