When to schedule
An exam for changes you notice—and eye health you can’t see.
You don’t need to wait for blurry vision to check on your eyes. Routine exams help identify concerns that can develop without obvious symptoms. Your recommended exam schedule depends on your age, health, eye history, and findings.
Your vision feels different
Schedule a visit for gradual blurring, difficulty reading, frequent squinting, or eye strain during screen time.
You’re keeping up with care
Check how your current prescription is working and monitor your eye health, even when your vision feels unchanged.
You have individual risk factors
Diabetes, a family history of eye disease, certain medications, or an existing eye condition can influence the care and monitoring you need.
Sudden vision loss, new flashes or floaters, or significant eye pain need prompt attention—not a routine appointment. Learn about eye emergencies.
What your comprehensive exam includes
Your exam is tailored to you. Dr. Yepremian selects tests based on your symptoms, age, medical history, and previous eye care.
Your health and vision history
We discuss your concerns, medications, family eye history, and how you use your eyes at work, school, and home.
Visual acuity
Distance and near vision charts measure how clearly you see, including the detail you need for reading.
Refraction: finding your prescription
Comparing lenses helps determine your eyeglass prescription. Instrument-based measurements can also help when children or other patients have difficulty comparing lens choices.
Eye coordination and movement
Testing evaluates how your eyes align, track, and work together. Depth perception and color vision testing are included when appropriate.
Eye health assessment
An examination of your eye structures checks for signs of disease. Eye pressure testing and a closer look at the retina help guide recommendations for further care.

What to bring
- Your current glasses and contact lens prescription or packaging, if you use them.
- A list of medications, supplements, and eye drops.
- Relevant eye records and details about your personal and family eye health history.
- Your photo ID, insurance information, and any questions you want to discuss.
- Sunglasses for comfort if your eyes are dilated.
If dilation is recommended
Dilating drops widen your pupils so Dr. Yepremian can examine the retina and other internal structures more closely.
Dilation can temporarily blur near vision and make your eyes sensitive to light for several hours. Plan your activities accordingly and arrange a ride if your vision is affected or you’re uncomfortable driving.
Before you leave
We review your findings, explain any prescription or treatment recommendations, and discuss when you should return.
